There is no account to create, no sign-in and no database. Your image is turned into favicons in memory and never stored. What the site does collect is anonymous analytics, crash reports, a running count and Discord generation notifications containing technical details, selected settings and any brand text you enter. The rest of this page spells out exactly what that means.
The image you choose stays in your browser until you press Generate. It is then sent to the generator, converted to the icon set in memory and returned to you as a zip in the same response. Nothing is written to disk, to a database or to any bucket, so there is no copy of your image or your favicons for me or anyone else to look at, keep or share. The brand name and description you type for the web manifest are also included in my Discord generation notification, where that text is retained.
The site uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_ followed by a measurement id, each lasting two years, and Google receives your IP address to work out an approximate location.
One custom event is recorded when a favicon set is generated. It carries two values: the format of the image you used, such as PNG or SVG, and whether the dark variant was switched on. Your image, its filename and your colour choices are never part of it.
When something breaks, a crash report goes to Sentry so I can fix it. The report holds the error, where in the code it happened and which browser hit it. There is no session recording and no performance tracing. Cookies and authorisation headers are stripped out before the report is sent, and no user identity is attached to it.
The number in the footer is real. Each generation adds one to three counters kept in Upstash: the running total, a total for that day and a total for that image format. They are plain numbers and carry no user identity.
Each successful generation on the live site also sends a message to my Discord channel. Discord retains the image format and dimensions, upload and zip sizes, generation time, and running total when available. It also retains any brand name and description you enter, changes to scale and radius, enabled flips and dark variant, and colours you supply. The dark background colour is included only when the dark variant is enabled and the colour differs from its default. Empty text and unchanged defaults are omitted.
These messages help me monitor use of the generator. They contain no image or favicon files, filenames, IP addresses or browser details. Please avoid putting personal information in the brand name or description.
Two small values are kept in your browser's local storage and never sent anywhere:
theme remembers whether you chose light or dark.favicon:whats-new remembers that you have already read the latest What's New note.Clearing your site data removes both. Neither is a cookie and neither reaches my servers.
The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel handles every request and keeps short-lived operational logs that record things such as the page requested, the response status, your browser's user agent and the region the request was served from. I use those logs only to keep the site working.

Blocking cookies in your browser, or using a content blocker, stops the analytics described above; the generator keeps working either way. Google also offers a browser opt-out add-on. Server-side generation notifications are separate from these analytics and still run when cookies are blocked. Leave the brand name and description blank to exclude them from Discord.
